Welcome to HoyaList! We are a group of Hoyas committed to enabling our colleges to trade in an open and free market. We created a marketplace where students can list both what they need and what they don’t. All of Georgetown’s demand & supply in one place. Everyone benefits.
So how did we come up with this idea? All around our campus you find students wanting to buy used books. Through the average Georgetown experience, students are enrolled in 8 semesters, 5 classes per semester, 1-2 books per class, that is a total of 80 books all of which become of little use after their academic function is complete. So then we thought, why not allow these students to pass on those used books on to other students who need them? Not only will the seller get some money back on what otherwise would be a sunk cost, but the ξbuyer will surely gain from buying at a discount! This works with books, no question, no discussion, no problems. So we brought forth the next question, why not enable students to trade whatever they want? So we decided to create a platform that would allow students to list all their items in one place, bringing together all the supply and demand of our community.
And that ladies and gentlemen is the start of Hoyalist. The rest is history. We have done our part, now you do yours. Spread the word.
